Herbalife: What I think.

Herbalife has a number of products in several categories. I believe these products are good but, as with any product there will be pro’s and con’s for each. I’m not going to go over each product for two reasons: 1. I don’t want to spend the next month researching all of the products. 2. You’re not going to spend two or three hours reading about them. I’m sorry but, if you want to know more about a specific product that Herbalife sells, I suggest reaching out to an Herbalife distributor or Google the product and do your own research.

Herbalife: My Experience
Back in the mid 1990’s, I was an independent distributor of Herbalife products. For about 6 months I tried my best to get an Herbalife business off the ground. I sold 1 can of their meal replacement shake. Not a good start.
I had to buy product from Herbalife each month to be able to collect any commissions I would have coming if someone signed up as a distributor under me. Of course this didn’t happen.
Back then, even though I new about the internet, it was new and most companies didn’t trust it. Computers were very expensive and way out of my price range. Most companies wouldn’t even let their distributors have a website to sell products so we had to use word of mouth or print media to tell people what we had to offer. After 6 months I couldn’t afford to continue.
I have requested a current Herbalife distributor contact me, because I want to get a few more questions answered.
  1. How much does it cost to become a distributor?
  2. Do you have to buy a specified amount of product each month.
  3. Can I recruit new distributors and sell product using online methods.

When I get those answers. I will update this post.

Who is this product for?

This unfortunately, is a question only you can truly answer and it depends on what you want. Herbalife may have products that will be perfect for your needs. On the other hand you might be able to find that perfect product at your neighborhood health food store at a cheaper price.

My Final Opinion of Herbalife

I must admit I have mixed feelings about Herbalife. On one hand Herbalife provides some great products, although they might be a little overpriced. I think you would be better off using their products and NOT becoming a distributor until after you know you would be able to sell them to other people.

Is Herbalife a SCAM? I’ll have to say NO. The problem is most people don’t know how to properly recruit people into their program and if they do they have no idea how to train them to do the same. I didn’t find any training provided by Herbalife that address’ this problem. This was the biggest reason I gave Herbalife a score of 49 out of a possible 100.

I believe most of you reading this are in the process of deciding weather or not to become an Herbalife rep or not. Some of you don’t care if it’s Herbalife or something else. You just want a way to make some extra money. I would like to introduce you to Affiliate Marketing. Not sure what that is? You can read my post Introducing Affiliate Marketing to find out.

If you don’t want to read that? In a nutshell affiliate marketing is simply selling other people’s products and getting paid a commission on the sales you generate. There are thousands upon thousands of products you can find online to sell but I would suggest starting out with just a few.

The Easy Way:

When it comes to selling online we all know we need a website. Stop don’t run away. I know many of you are now saying, I can’t built a website. I have your solution to this problem. I’m a member of a site know as Wealthy Affiliate. We offer training to help you build your own website step by step. The best part is we will get you started without charging you a single cent.

That’s right our Starter Membership is FREE, No Credit Card Required. You can see my Wealthy Affiliate Review here.

If you want to make some extra money by selling products online, you could sell your extra things on ebay. You might even be able to buy things at neighborhood garage sales and sell those things on ebay as well, but how much money will you be able to bring in doing that. Not much I’m guessing.

Building your own website will allow you to find products you can sell and make $20, $50, even $1,000 in profit or more per sale. Let me ask you something. If you wanted to make an extra $1,000 per month which would be easier, selling 50 $20 products or 1 $1,000 product.

The answer most people say is, it would be easier to sell 1 product at $1,000. I agree to an extent. It is easier to sell one product per month that it is to sell 50. The problem with that is most people aren’t willing to spend that amount of money online or they simply don’t have it. So what’s the answer?

Building your own website would allow you to have both $1,000 products to sell and $20 products to sell. See where I’m going here? If your into health and wellness you could sell products that are not to high priced: vitamins, products for weight loss, ect. ect. You could also sell higher priced products like a treadmill, or an indoor bike.

This gives you the opportunity to sell both products. You could even have a customer that buys both a high priced product and a few lower priced products at the same time. How would that feel?

I have always heard mixed reviews about Herbalife being a pyramid scheme. This article definitely puts it into perspective. I will definitely purchase instead of becoming a distributor.

As for Wealthy Affiliate, I personally love it. It is a great learning and building resource.

    Thanks for the information!

Hi Mike, this is a good write-up of Herbalife. I looked at Herbalife back in the late 90’s but ended up taking a pass. The Federal Trade Commission and Herbalife settled their 2-year litigation in July 2016. Herbalife agreed to a $200 million settlement and a change to their business operations. No more focusing on distributor recruitment but on selling products. At least Herbalife was not classified as a pyramid scheme and shut down.

We can research a product before buying it. If it turns out not to be what we thought,
we can save a few of those hard earned dollars.
      Have a blessed day
